EUR 284,298 | July 2021 - February 2024 | The overall objective of the project is to develop cooperation between Slovakia and Moldova on labour migration and foster economic exchange between the ICT sectors of the two countries. Specific Objectives: Specific objective 1: Develop and establish an opportunity-driven legal migration scheme between Slovakia and Moldova supporting young Moldovans starting their careers in the ICT sector by establishing a viable temporary labour mobility scheme. The scheme will offer young (20) Moldovan talents – students or graduates of ICT related fields – short-term employment (12 months) or internships (3 months) in leading ICT companies in Slovakia, enabling them to gain practical knowledge, skills and experience in professional environment and later use them after integration back at home. Specific objective 2: Support the development of Moldova by reintegrating successful graduates of the scheme upon their return to Moldova via their effective placement on the labour market or business start-ups, in cooperation with relevant stakeholders. Through individual professional growth and subsequent return of participants to Moldova, the scheme will support transfer of knowledge and skills between the Slovak and Moldovan ICT sectors as well as development of business relations between private companies in both countries. To build capacities of the local partners, the project will support the creation of a public-private partnership in order to establish an educational platform, the Digital Academy Social Programme. Specific objective 3: Share experiences and best practices in relation to the implementation of labour migration scheme, return policies and policies aimed at attracting migrants. |

Under this Project an ICT Excellence Center in Moldova is developed by a number of strategic partners with the financial support from the United States Agency for International Development. During 36 months the project will: 1) support the setup and equipment of the facility; 2) support the creation of a business plan integrating relevant IT educational content and entrepreneurship activities; 3) Train and prepare qualified staff; 4) Initiate and expand educational, training and entrepreneurship development activities. The Technical University of Moldova will host the Center on its premises. Extension period: Institutional development and capacity building for the Tekwill (Chisinau) Center and creation of makers space/fabrication laboratory (FabLab) Continuous support for the Moldova ICT start-up community, integrating relevant ICT educational content and entrepreneurship activities Develop Tekwill regional Centers through deployment of relevant ICT educational content and entrepreneurship activities in the regions (Chisinau, Balti, Cahul, Comrat, and potentially Tiraspol) Capacity development of the potential regional Centers’ governing bodies and management teams |

The project will create a nurturing learning environment that will provide a series of diversified activities, including fun ones that require hands-on application of science, technology and crafts (including mechanics, electricity, electronics). Students will be challenged to choose from a variety of Tekwill based programs- from more IT-oriented and technical workshops and meetups to activities that include make, build, “think with their minds hands” and design while solving individually or in group a variety of tasks or real-life problems. Importantly, the project will feature an environment that encourages students to trust themselves, to take ownership of their own learning, and to feel safe while making mistakes. Beyond the technical skills gained at Tekwill as part of the project, students will be able to strengthen essential soft skills like problem solving, communication skills, critical thinking, basic digital skills and working in teams. To achieve the objective and contribute to the aim of the project a certain number of activities will be implemented. Some of them will be focused on taking the students out and putting them simply in a different working environment, acquiring new skills and abilities, others on working in a team and implementing joint projects. A part of activities will familiarize students and their professors with the new technologies, will introduce them to the Tekwill community. |
